On your first lesson, you will be driven to a route that’s known as a Nursery Route where you will learn how to set a car up safely and so it is comfortable for you to drive. This is called the cockpit drill or DSSSM (Doors, Seat, Steering, Seat Belt. Mirrors). You will also learn how to safely control a car while starting your beginners manoeuvres, which will include your mirror, signal, manoeuvre (MSM).
For a novice pupil, that has never sat in the drivers seat before, I would ideally recommend that you take a minimum of 40 hours so that you are fully confident with all aspects of driving that are required to be able to get you test ready. But this all depends on your learning ability as everyone learns in different styles and speeds.
For pupils that have more experience, I will detail a fully flexible plan that matches your skillset and experience which will be reviewed weekly.

Cancellation of Lessons

In the event of you having booked your driving test, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) requires you to give three clear working days to cancel your test. This may mean that you may lose your DVSA test fee if your instructor says you’re not ready for your test within this three-day notice period.
